Fire is not a fixed element. It is chaotic and unpredictable. I have learned from experience that a good performer controls every element of fire dancing they can control. This is done first by taking the following precatuions.

  • Confirming myself and any collaborators are fully insured. And I beg of you, dear patron, confirm this yourself with any and all fire performers at your event, even if you do not book me. I value your spaces and guests’ safety. I provide a copy of my policy with any contract made
  • Communicating to the client safety requirements for the performance space is one of my first concerns. The performance space has to be clear of all flammable materials or decorations. If performing indoors, flooring needs to be stone, wood, or tile. Carpet or rugs are not an option.
  • For just myself, I need at least 15 sq. feet of area and overhead clearance. This is multiplied by the number of performers you would like to perform at once.
  • Another small area at least 25 feet away from the performance area will be needed for a Fuel Dump. This is where props will be readied prior to the show.
  • I bring a trained Safety assistant to watch myself and the spectators to ensure everyone is safe and to put out fire props when a performance is over. If you are a large commercial venue, we may ask for your security to help us keep people away from fire.
